Design |
Smile
Design is a specialized practice performed by Drs. Shervin Erfani
and Kathrina Agatep, and only a handful of select dentists around
the country. The phrase itself sounds simple but much like restoring
a find pointing to its original color and powerful Image. Smile
Design is also a process of fine restoration that results in a perfect
smile created especially for you.
Your smile says it all. Confidence, well-being
and a positive image in your personal and professional life. A consultation
with either or is the first step in achieving
the ideal smile for you. A brilliant smile radiates joy, good health
and vitality and your smile plays an important role in the happiness
of your everyday life.
Call to learn
how and can created the beautiful vibrant
smile you’ve always deserved in as little as two visits. We
are excited to show you the difference you can achieve in your smile
because you deserve it.

| Porcelain
Veneers |
| Veneers
are thin, strong, custom-made porcelain restorations which are bonded
to a prepared tooth. The result is a restoration that mimics natural,
beautiful tooth structure. The artistic fabrication of veneers contributes
greatly to the final result. Therefore we are careful to work with
only highly skilled artistic ceramists. This process is generally
completed in 2 visits about a month apart.
Case Study
Jane was unhappy with the way her teeth looked.
She felt like her teeth were crooked. Too yellow and too short.
She could see the wear on her teeth and she did not wan to end up
having the same teeth as her mother, very short and very worn that
would break very easily. By placing veneers not only did we give
her the dream smile she was always looking for but we also were
able to give back the strength that her teeth had lost due to severe
wear. |

| Invisalign
(Invisible Braces) |
What
is invisalign?
Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without
braces.
Invisalign uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten
your teeth without metal wires or brackets.
Invisalign has been proven effective in clinical research and in
orthodontic practices nationwide.
How
does invisalign work?
You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only
to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth
will move- little by little, week by week- until they have straightened
to the final position we have prescribed for you.
You’ll visit our office about every 6 weeks to ensure that
your treatment is progressing as planned.
Total treatment time averages 9 to 15 months and the average number
of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both
will vary from case to case.
How
are aligners made? You’d be amazed..
The aligers are made through a combination of your dentist or orthodontist’s
expertise and 3-d computer imaging technology. |

| TMJ
Therapy |
Is
it nerves? Is it muscles? Do you get headaches on a consistent basis?
Do you blame it on stress? You are not alone. Using a neuromuscular
approach to treating patients can help the many headache sufferers.
But what exactly is it? Neuromuscular dentistry is nothing new.
Actually, it has been around for some 30 years, but is not the traditional
approach to patient care in dentistry. It refers to the muscles
of the head and neck, the nerves related to them and how they all
work together. The symptoms of neuromuscular disharmony are related
to the ”TMJ” or temporomandibular joint. Many patients
complain that their jaw pops and clicks. They often complain of
pain around the joint. If you have these symptoms, then you are
not alone. In reality however, 99% of people do not have true “TMJ”
problems. Unless trauma or injury is involved, pain from the joint
comes from the surrounding muscles and get them relaxed, then the
majority of symptoms will resolve. But what are the symptoms? As
you read them, think of how many apply to you.
- Headaches ore migraines
- Pain or pressure in and about the eyes
- Sinus problems
- Tinnitus ( ringing in the ear)
- Clogging or stuffiness of the ears
- Subjective hearing loss
- Pain in or around the jaw
- Stiffness or soreness in the neck, shoulders and back
- Radiating pain down your arm to your fingers
- Snoring
- Vertigo (dizziness)
- Habits of grinding
- Clenching your teeth
- Sensitive teeth
These are just a few of
the symptoms that may be related to neuromuscular disharmony. Make
no mistake headaches are not just from stress. Neck and shoulder
problems are not just from sitting at a computer for many hours.
Sinus problems are not just from allergies. But how does all this
relate to your teeth? If you have ever seen a person with no teeth
in their mouth, it almost appears as if their chin can touch their
nose. That is because their teeth are not present to create a vertical
stop as to how far they can close. Well, just because you have teeth
does not mean that you close at the correct position. As you use
your teeth they wear and shorten, causing you to be over-closed
when your teeth are in contact. Now here is where the muscles come
into play. At complete rest, your teeth are separated by a certain
amount. Dentists call this freeway space. When it is time for your
teeth to be put to use for eating or chewing, the muscles contract.
Now imagine that you have worn or shortened teeth. Your freeway
space is larger than ideal, and the muscles have to contract more
to get the teeth to make contact. The muscles do not like this and
compensate by staying perpetually contracted, causing spasms, pain
and soreness. After a while they get fatigued, produce lactic acid
(which is what causes the spasms and discomforts) . With the use
of electromyography (electrical muscle activity), joint sonography
(sound), jaw tracking, muscle palpation, and the most simple test
of all, asking you about your symptoms, the probable can be diagnosed
and treated accurately and conservatively. So next time you reach
for the advil for that afternoon headache, think of what it would
be like to be headache free and come in for your comprehensive exam
today. I look forward to improving the quality or your life. |

| Bonding |
Bonding
is a very conservative means to repair chipped, discolored or misaligned
teeth. It is a one visit procedure that utilizes composite resin
material sculpted directly on the existing tooth. Minimal preparation
is needed to achieve the desired result. Although not as long lasting
or strong as all porcelain restorations, this conservative and aesthetic
procedure has enhanced the smiles of many or our patients. |

| Laser
Dentistry |
The
use of lasers in dentistry is a long awaited technology. We are
proud to be on the cutting edge with the use of our soft tissue
laser. This laser allows us to expertly sculpt excess gum tissue
with minimal trauma and excellent results. It also helps us in reducing
periodontal pockets without the need for gum surgery.
Eliminating a gummy smile
can make a great difference in the appearance of your teeth. Your
teeth may appear short because the gum tissue is at the wrong height.
Reshaping the gum tissue to its appropriate level will give your
teeth a longer, more attractive appearance. Gingival recontouring
or sculpting is a simple procedure that takes just minutes. A small
amount of local anesthesia is applied and the tissue is artfully
sculpted to the desired position. There is no bleeding no stitches
and minimal discomfort. You can even do it during your lunch hour
and return to work. So if you feel your teeth are too short, or
your smile has a gummy appearance, give us a call and see what gingival
sculpting can do for you. |

| Full
Mouth Rehabilitation, and Rejuvenation |
There are occasions when a patient’s mouth is in a very
poor condition. It may be due to neglect, periodontal disease,
or even occlusal (bite related) disease. Under these circumstances,
treating one are, or even just one arch, will not resolve the
problem. That is when a full mouth reconstruction is necessary.
For clarification, full mouth reconstruction does not mean surgery.
It is a non surgical, comprehensive approach to getting the upper
and lower jaws in proper alignment, removing all decay, repairing
all chipped, weakened and broken teeth and ultimately, creating
a healthy, attractive smile that will last for years.
There is no guesswork when providing the patient with such comprehensive
treatment. I use sophisticated instrumentation that allows me
to precisely calculate where to position your new bite so that
it is functional and comfortable. Most importantly proper alignment
will resolve many of the neuromuscular signs and symptoms (look
under TMJ and neuromuscular). The instrumentation includes joint
sonography, which allows me to listen to your joint for noises
that are destructive to the TMJ. I also use electromyography to
verity that the muscles are in a relaxed state in the new position.
I then include jaw tracking to establish the proper path of movement
of your jaw. This is very advanced equipment only a handful of
dentists in the entire country have ever heard of, let alone know
how to use. My training at the Las Vegas Institute has given me
the skill to treat you with this cutting edge technology. So what
results can you expect? A scientifically determined bite that
looks great, feels comfortable and gives you many happy, healthy
years of use. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms under
TMJ and neuromuscular dentistry or feel you r mouth is in poor
condition then a full mouth reconstruction may be the solution.

Whitening |
We
offer several methods of teeth whitening to achieve the best result
for you as an individual. Teeth whitening is a process that will
restore teeth to their whitest shade. Each individual’s tooth
enamel is different. Therefore we will help you choose the method
which will be the best for you.
Rembrandt - a widely known
In-office whitening process using gel and a high intensity halogen
light system.
ZOOM! - as seen on Extreme
Makeover Show. The translucent bleaching gel is applied to the teeth
and a laser light is used to activate the crystals to absorb the
energy from the light and penetrate the teeth enamel to increase
the lightening effect on the teeth.
Take Home Bleaching - a
relatively inexpensive method, using prescription strength gel and
custom molded trays that can be worn for a short time during the
day or even while you are sleeping. |

highly-skilled technician utilizes this computer to illustrate the
potential, simulated end results of a complete "Smile Makeover".
Patients are invited to "try-on" their new smile before
the process begins. The color screen is split into two, showing
a before and after image of the patient's teeth, while the technician
uses a wand to change the shape and color of the teeth.
